Dermaplaning

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an exfoliating skin treatment for your face that uses no chemicals or irritants.

The main reason for dermaplaning is to remove fine peach fuzz that appears on your face. Everyone has these hairs and, while they are usually blonde, some people experience darker hair and wish to remove it.

These hairs can be more difficult to remove by waxing and threading so dermaplaning offers a much better option.

Dermaplaning is also used to reduce the appearance of:
● Acne scars
● Dull skin
● Dry skin
● Sun damage
● Wrinkles

How does dermaplaning work?

Dermaplaning using a sterilised scalpel to scrap the surface of your skin in order to remove peach fuzz and the dull, dead skin cells that sit on the surface of your skin and make your appearance look dull. Your skin is exposed to harsh toxins and environmental conditions in your everyday life.

Dermaplaning helps to remove the top layer of skin cells to reveal the smoother, blemish free skin underneath.

By removing the top layer of dead skin cells, dermaplaning helps to trigger the cell regeneration process which will improve and smooth the appearance of acne scarring and sun damage.

In addition, the treatment can also help to improve the absorption of skincare products, helping you to see better results.

Dermaplaning takes around 10 to 20 minutes and is either performed as a standalone treatment or alongside a facial.

What are the benefits of dermaplaning?

As an exfoliating treatment, dermaplaning will leave your skin feeling refreshed and smoother. The fine hairs on your face trap dirt and oil on your face and are one of the key causes of acne and blemishes so dermaplaning can help to prevent future breakouts.

Other benefits include:

● Removal of fine peach fuzz on face
● Smoother, brighter and younger looking skin
● Better absorption and application of skincare and makeup products
● A non-invasive treatment
● No chemicals used
● No recovery time required
● Minimises the appearance of wrinkles
● Effective for all skin types
● Instant results

What to expect after dermaplaning

Within a day or two of treatment, you will see the results of the dermaplaning treatment and these will last between two weeks and a month.

You should not experience any side effects from dermaplaning as long as a sterile blade is used to prevent irritation or infection from occurring. A common myth around dermaplaning is that the fine hair that’s removed will come back thicker and darker but this is extremely uncommon.

Unlike other exfoliating skin treatments, no recovery time is needed after dermaplaning. You may experience redness on your face for a few days but this will soon clear, leaving you with brighter, smoother looking skin.
